Jais Nielsen

Denmark (1895-1961)

Being a sculptor at the beginning, Jais Nielsen worked for Royal Copenhagen from 1920 to 1928, then independently until his death in 1961.

A great traveler, he painted in Paris for three years and studied in Italy. Its flagship piece, "the potter" was exhibited at the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925 where it won the Grand Prix.

Jais Nielsen produced both unique and serial pieces and most of the time worked with alathe with the addition of carved motifs of religious inspiration.

Although he worked mainly for Royal Copenhagen, Jais Nielsen also worked with Axel Salto in the 30s.
