Patricia Urquiola

Born in Oviedo in 1961, she studied Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated in 1989 under the supervision of Achille Castiglioni, with whom she later collaborated as an assistant at the Politecnico di Milano from 1990 to 1992.

From 1990 to 1996, she was part of the product development department at De Padova, working closely with Vico Magistretti. In 1996, she became Head of Design at Lissoni Associati, before founding her own studio in 2001. There, she develops projects across product design, installations, and architecture.

Her recent achievements include the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona and the Four Seasons Spa in Milan. She designs furniture for some of the most renowned Italian and international brands, combining refined aesthetics with thoughtful functionality.

Several of her creations are part of museum collections, including the MoMA in New York and the Museo della Triennale in Milan. Her work has been recognized with numerous international awards, among them the “Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes” (Gold Medal of Fine Arts), awarded by the Spanish Government.
