The unique lounge chair takes its inspiration from the ageless No 7 dining chair designed by Helge Sibast in 1953. Carrying on the high-quality craftsmanship and design heritage from his grandfather, Ditlev Sibast designed the lounge chair as a respectful and endearing transformation of the original dining chair together with his wife, Anna. The kinship with the dining chair is emphasised by the large moulded backrest and the gently tapered back legs. Other key qualities of the design include the laid-back comfort and simple expression. The lounge chair descends from the timeless beauty of the Danish Modern movement and is a bold and extraordinary design made with the fundamental attention to detail that runs in the Sibast family. Sibast No 7 Lounge is available in a seat upholstered as well as a fully upholstered version. Furthermore it has now also been introduced in two new exclusive editions of sheepskin.

Anna & Ditlev Sibast

The sculptural dining chairs – Sibast No 7, No 8 and No 9 from 1953 – has become the hallmarks of Sibast Furniture, and it is this same design heritage that has been re-established by the fourth generation: Helge Sibast’s grandson Ditlev Sibast and his wife Anna Sibast. Although the Sibast family lost ownership of Sibast Furniture for a while after Helge Sibast’s passing in 1985, the family retained the right to his designs. So in 2013, the couple decided to re-establish his grandfather’s designs with the same focus on craftsmanship and quality. Supplemented by a desire to tell new design stories and add new perspectives on the timeless icons, new furniture pieces came to life where Sibast No 7 lounge and bar chair stands out as the two most significant.
