Gerd Lange

Gerd Lange studied at the University of Art and Design in Offenbach before founding his own design studio in Kapsweyer, Rhineland-Palatinate, in 1961. Over the course of his career, the furniture developer and product designer created numerous everyday objects, with his chairs achieving particular acclaim. Lange played a pivotal role in shaping the design landscape of the Federal Republic of Germany during the 1970s and 1980s. His collaborations with renowned manufacturers such as Drabert, Thonet, DeSede, and Wogg earned him multiple awards. In 1965, he conceived the Farmer collection for the Bofinger company in Stuttgart—a series of foldable furniture including a chair, table, bed, and cupboard.
