Tripod HM8 Floor lamp by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. Tripod from 1953 reflects the clean minimalism of Old Masters Hvidt & Mølgaard. A floor lamp built from lacquered steel with brass details, it strikes a delicate balance between the stark simplicity of its design and the softness injected by the curved edges of its base. Although it was designed in 1953, this is the first time it’s in production. The shade is spun from a single piece of aluminum. The base is made from bend steel tubes and welded together. The lamp is laquered in a satin matt finish

Peter Hvidt et Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen

Denmark,(1916-1986) , (1907-1993)

Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) worked together between 1944 to 1975. In 1947 they designed the "AX" chair (manufactured by Fritz Hansen) which became the major icon of their career. The chair was the first Danish chair with a seat and back made of double curved laminated wood. The seat and back could be removed and packaged separately, basically dismantling the entire chair for easy shipping. The "AX" chair was built in several different variations, with and without armrests and with reversible leather upholstery instead of the wood seat. The two architects together designed not less than 256 furniture objects. Their firm Hvidt & Mølgaard still exists.
