Stripes is an upholstery textile designed by the acclaimed British designer Paul Smith for Maharam. Featuring his signature rhythmic multicoloured stripes, it comes in ten colourways, five of which are new.
Composed as a series of textiles, Stripes is a study in variegation. Characterised by Paul Smith’s playful use of colour and proportion, Stripes offers staccato repetitions, tonal modulations and punctuated sequences. Engineered to appear arbitrary, each variation in frequency, colour, saturation, and density yields an entirely unique expression.
Stripes is constructed in a dense wool warp-satin weave. Its colour scale combines natural, neutral tones, such as forest green and earth brown, with highlight hues like deep red and orange. Each of the textile’s colourways offers a distinctively individual and vibrant fusion of colours.
