Mikko Paakkanen

Mikko Paakkanen (born in 1975) is a Finnish furniture designer and founder of Studio Paakkanen. He initially learned carpenter and studied at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. Paakkanen is interested in fine materials, tailor-made manufacturing methods and innovative solutions in contemporary design. All this he combines in his work: Beauty and functionality have the highest priority for him. For the exceptional pendant lamp Medusa by SAAS Instruments he has been awarded the Legacy for Future Awards Golden Prize in Korea in 2010. His other awards include the Good Design Award, Chicago Athenaeum in 2009, the Fennia Prize of Design Forum Finland in 2012, etc.
