Luxus

Luxus was founded in 1950 by Uno Kristiansson. At that time, the range consisted of home and interior lamps, furniture and mirrors. The products were designed by the two brothers Uno and Östen Kristiansson. In 1966, the furniture design became incorporated into Östen Kristiansson AB (Okabe), when he took over his father's business Vittsjö Furniture, established in 1919. During the 1950's collections were launched in Sweden and internationally. Examples are the textile lamp shade Texolux, and the ceiling lamp Plafo in acrylic with a wooden cross which was added with variations. In 1968, Luxus presented collections in bright colours and textile designed by Marjatta Metso Vaara. From the 1970s, activities focused on the development of lighting in acrylic for public environments. Lamp series like Arkitektura, Candus, Skulptura, Discus, Pinus and Rustikus were designed for this purpose. The experience and developments made by the company has always been a part of the designing process and the manufacture of luminaries.
